Abstract

Mr. Bernstiel will first talk a little bit about the history of KBR, where KBR stands today, the business model of KBR and what KBR is doing in general. He will concentrate on the so-called EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) part of their business and EPC Procurement in particular. He will discuss the several Procurement disciplines such as Project Procurement Management, Purchasing, Expediting, Inspection, Logistic and Materials Management, as well as the responsibilities of each of the disciplines and the challenges. He will also talk about new trends in the industry.

Biography

Carsten Bernstiel is Senior Vice President Procurement & Materials with KBR in Houston. In this function, he is responsible for the Global Procurement Strategy of KBR in terms of processes, tools and strategic sourcing. Carsten is also running the Houston Procurement & Materials Operation. Before he joined KBR in 2014, he used to work 16 years for ThyssenKrupp Uhde, a German Engineering company, in various Procurement roles. He started his career in the GEA group in R&D and Sales. Carsten holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering of Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany. He is Member of the CPO Advisory Board of the ISM Houston and the Member of the Cullen College Dean's Leadership Board.
