Abstract

This seminar will help you navigate the career fair successfully. What should you do before, during and after the event? What skills are relevant to employers? How to set yourself apart? The goal is for you to feel confident and better prepared with the tools necessary to get the interview. I will also provide a brief overview of our services and events we have scheduled for the semester.

Biography

Janice Quiroz Perez is the Director of the Engineering Career Center at the University of Houston, Cullen College of Engineering that is also the home for the Co-operative Education Program for the university. She engages both internal and external stakeholders to effectively develop students from academia to the workforce. Janice collaborates with faculty, alumni and employers to enhance professional development among students. She partners with industry representatives for joint partnerships on initiatives to help increase their brand visibility on campus and strategies to revamp their recruiting efforts. Janice oversees career related programming including the biannual Engineering Career Fair, networking events, industry panels and workshops. She holds two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Houston, one in Communications, with a focus in Public Relations and the other in Consumer Science and Merchandising. She is currently working on her MBA, from the University of Houston, Downtown.
