The Transition from a Student to a Field Engineer

Abstract: In this talk, I will offer a realistic view of the transition process from a full time student to a full time field industrial engineer. Personal views and experiences will be shared to exemplify common new employee’s dilemmas. Some personal tips will be presented on how to cope with the major lifestyle changes.

Biography: Nubia Cabrera is the Manufacturing Engineer/ ERP Administrator at Texas Injection Molding. She received her BSc degree with CUM LAUDE from the department of industrial Engineering, University of Houston, May 2017. During her study at UH, Nubia was awarded the Terry Transfer Scholarship in 2014, and inducted to the engineering honor society in 2016. In 2016, Nubia worked first as a quality control intern at Texas Injection Molding for six months where she was later offered the Quality Control Manager position in the same company. After four months as a Quality Manager, Nubia was promoted to Manufacturing Engineer and very recently promoted to her current position, the Manufacturing Engineer/ ERP Administrator at Texas Injection Molding
