Eligibility and Application

Industrial Engineering undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the BSIE/MBA dual track after completing the first semester of their sophomore year. Minimum eligibility requirements include:

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Students with less than two years of full-time professional work experience must plan to complete three summer internships by the end of their senior year. This includes the summer immediately following their graduation in the spring semester, which also qualifies toward fulfilling this requirement.

Interested students should meet with the Director of the IE Undergraduate Program to discuss any potential graduation plan adjustment before submitting the Accelerated BSIE/MBA Dual Track Program application form.

Course Replacement/Credit Waiver

Dual track students benefit from a time- and cost-efficient pathway:

  • Upon acceptance into the dual track program, students are permitted to take the following MBA core courses during their senior year that count toward both the BSIE and MBA degrees.
    • ACCT 6331 - Financial Accounting (substitutes for INDE 3330: Financial and Cost Management)
    • FINA 6387 - Managerial Analysis (fulfills the Technical Elective requirement in the BSIE degree plan)
  • Upon starting the MBA program, the Bauer College of Business waives an additional 6 credit hours of MBA coursework.

This results in a total savings of 12 credit hours for students in the dual degree program.

Formal Admission to the MBA Program

Acceptance into the dual track program does not guarantee admission to the Professional MBA program. Students must formally apply for the Professional MBA program after completing the Fall semester of their senior year. Admission decisions will be made by the end of the senior year based on the following criteria:

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • GMAT Score
  • At least two years of full-time professional experience or completion of three summer internships by the end of senior year
  • Candidate may be required to have an interview with faculty/administrators from the MBA program to assess the applicant’s potential for success

Students must maintain a cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 or above throughout their BSIE degree program to remain eligible for formal admission. Qualified students may apply for various scholarships offered by the Bauer College of Business and the university.

Granting of Degrees
  • The BSIE degree is conferred upon completion of all undergraduate curriculum requirements, including the approved undergraduate/graduate course substitutions.
  • Upon successful completion of the BSIE degree, students who meet the Professional MBA admission criteria will be formally admitted to the MBA program and continue their studies immediately at the Bauer College of Business.
