MSIE Degree Program

Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (MSIE)

  • 30 semester hours of graduate courses are required for the MSIE degree. This includes 21 hours of course work, 3 hours of research, and 6 hours of thesis.
  • These requisite degree program hours are in addition to any leveling courses.
  • All MSIE students must take INDE 6111 (graduate seminar course) at least once during their studies.

Students must choose one of the six concentration areas listed below and complete the required courses for that concentration to fulfill the requirements of the MSIE, Thesis program.

  • All MSIE students are required to take the following two mandatory core courses (6 credit hours):
    • INDE 6333 - Probability Stat For Engineers
    • INDE 6372 - Advanced Linear Optimization
  • Students must take three concentration elective courses (9 credit hours) designated for their chosen area of concentration. Each concentration includes a required course (bolded in the course list) that students must select as one of the three electives.
  • Two elective courses (IE courses or non-IE elective courses from the “List of Approved non-IE Elective courses”. Prior approval by the Director of Graduate Program is required for courses not in the list.)
  • 3 hours of research, and 6 hours of thesis.
